What is the sample bookshelf?

The sample bookshelf allows you to add books to a queue as you encounter them on the site. To add a book to your bookshelf, you simply click on the "add to shelf" icon associated with that book. You will then receive it by email when it reaches the top of your queue.

Do I have to become a member of Bookdaily to read the book excerpts?

No. You only have to become a member in order to post book reviews and receive book samples by email.

Do I have to be a member to post comments about Books and other features?

Yes, you must be logged in.

I am an author. How do I get my books listed on Bookdaily?

How do I purchase a book?

Click on one of the "Buy Now" links listed by each sample. You will be redirected to either the Amazon.com Web site.

Can I reprint excerpts that appear on BookDaily publications in other publications?

You must have written permission from BookDaily in order to publish or distribute commercially any content found on the site. BookDaily does not own the copyrights to all material it runs. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact the editor.

Can I send BookDaily chapter excerpts or articles to a group of friends?

Yes. BookDaily includes the "Share This" feature with every story or excerpt we post on our website or send to our subscribers.

What do I do if I want to submit an article to BookDaily?

BookDaily does take requests for publication, however we make no guarantee that an article or excerpt sent in will be published. If interested in becoming a BookDaily Author, please click here: www.bookdaily.com/authorpromo/promoform

How do I know that I can trust your company with my email address?

What happens if I have subscribed but I am not receiving my book samples?

Here are suggestions to follow that may help you in receiving your BookDaily email. If none of them are successful for you, please contact your e-mail provider to inquire why BookDaily email is not making it to your Inbox.

Suggestions:

• Add books@bookdaily.com to your e-mail address book.

Hotmail users, please select "Options", then under "Mail Handling" click "Safe List" and type in "BookDaily.com" -- then click "OK."

• If you use Yahoo and find your ezine in the "bulk" folder, please open the message and click the "Not Spam" button.

• Commercial Spam Filtering Programs typically allow domains to be added to the filter's "white list" -- follow your program's instructions for adding "BookDaily.com."

• Does your Internet Service Provider (ISP) have a favored mailer or "White list"? If so, please follow their procedures to make sure that "BookDaily.com" is added to it.

• Has your ISP designated our mail to be sent to a "junk mail" or "bulk mail" folder, or simply blocked us altogether? Again, please contact your ISP and let them know the mail from books@bookdaily.com is content you have requested.

What if I can’t find a book I’m interested on BookDaily?

We’re proud to offer more than 60,000 sample chapters on BookDaily and we’re constantly looking for more. Unfortunately we don’t have them all (yet!) If there’s a book or author you’d like to see featured on the site, please submit it on the form found here. You may also search for the book at the Amazon website.

How much are the book samples? Will I get charged for the book samples emailed to me?

BookDaily is free. We do not charge for book samples, email delivery or setting up an account. We are a free book site for readers. Please enjoy.

Will I receive an electronic or print version of the books I purchase?

It's totally up to you. Our purchase links send you to the Amazon.com website where you can purchase titles in whatever formats are currently available.

Does BookDaily publish books?

BookDaily.com is a book sampling site for readers. Our hope is that you will use our site to sample books of interest to you. So when you are ready to make a book purchase or a recommendation to your book club or even scout out your local library for a specific title, you do so with confidence.

BookDaily chapter excerpts have been previously published by book publishers. BookDaily does not publish or produce books.

What if I want to post my book samples on BookDaily.com. What should I do?

Why can't I find the printable bookmark on BookDaily sample chapters?

Custom bookmarks are only available when you are logged in to your BookDaily account. The links are then visible on every book.

What is a double opt-in process and why does BookDaily use this?

When you sign up for an account on BookDaily.com, you will receive a confirmation email sent asking you to confirm your request. This helps us determine that the person submitting the email address actually is in control of it. We want to be sure to only send email to people who want to receive it.

Do I need to renew my BookDaily subscription?

Check the “Subscriptions” tab in your account after logging in.

If I decide to unsubscribe, how long does it take?

We process your request immediately and you will receive no further e-mail on that subscription. Please note that you will receive e-mail on any other subscription(s) you may still have active with us. You will be able to see these other subscriptions (if you have any) on the unsubscribe page. Every e-mail that we send you will have an active unsubscribe link on it.

Does BookDaily sell its subscribers' e-mail addresses to other companies?

No. We have a strict confidentiality policy against selling or giving away the e-mail addresses of subscribers. The company is in accordance with CAN-SPAM regulation.

How do I know which email publications I am subscribed to?

No. Once you sign up with BookDaily.com there is no need to renew. Simply continue to add books to your account at your leisure.

IIs there a limit on the number of books I can have in my account?

No. You can add as many books as you like. There are no costs or hidden fees, just an opportunity to enjoy unlimited reading.

What happens if I don't have any books at all in my account?

That's fine. You will receive the featured book sample of the day on days when your account is empty.

I am having trouble setting up my account.

If you are having problems setting up your account it maybe due to a setting on your computer. Try "enabling" the "cookies" setting on your computer. This should allow you to set up your account.

Please note: You must use a letter as opposed to a number first in setting up your username.

The "Subscribe Now" box continues to pop-up as I search the site.

You will generally see the pop-up "Subscribe Now" box if you are trying to add books to your "shelf" without first setting up an account. Set-up your free account first, then add books to your shelf.

I signed up for a BookDaily.com account but still have not received a confirmation notice.

If you set up an account and you still have not received a confirmation letter, or your daily book samples, chances are your BookDaily emails maybe getting lost in your spam file. Please check your spam folder.

Tip: To ensure all of your BookDaily emails are received, please add books@bookdaily.com

I am having trouble creating a username or password.

It maybe that the username or password you are entering is no longer available. Watch for the indicators above each entry box as you are creating your account. They are there to guide you through the process, indicating whether or not a username is available as well as assisting you as you step through confirming your email address, and creating a password.

What is comment posting?

Once logged in, you may post comments, rate books and offer your reviews on any book on BookDaily.com As long as user-submitted comments meet family-friendly guidelines, the comments will be available for other readers to see.

Why and when should readers post comments?

Readers are encouraged to post helpful, interesting and family-friendly comments.

The BookDaily team believes comment posting enhances the user experience in several ways. It allows users to instantly post a response to a story, discuss content with other readers, or simply offer related information.

What comments will not be allowed?

Any comments that may cause harm to other individuals will not be allowed. Any comments with offensive language will be instantly rejected. Any attempts at advertising a product on the BookDaily site will be removed.

What are reasons for my comments not appearing?

There could be several reasons. Most likely, the comment you submitted included potentially offensive language or a link to another site (see FAQ on including links below).

The BookDaily team has attempted to set up a system that allows nearly all comment posts that meet family-friendly guidelines -- but we cannot ensure that our filtering mechanisms are perfect. In other words, if in the rare case your comment is not posted and you're absolutely sure that your comment is family-friendly, it could mean that our system was overly strict. But we would rather be overly strict, than allow offensive language on the BookDaily site. The editors will monitor questionable comments and approve them as necessary.

Can I include links to other sites in comments?

BookDaily will not allow any links to be automatically posted in comments. This is prohibited because comment posting spammers and illegitimate advertisers are constantly attempting to draw traffic and gather email addresses of other users.

Should I include personal information with comments?

BookDaily encourages all users to keep their email address and other personal information private.

How are users able to moderate content using the Report Offensive Comment links?

We encourage users to report only comments that include offensive remarks. With every comment posted, there are "Report Offensive Comment" links. Please only use this link if you see a comment that may be derogatory toward another individual's race, religion, or personal beliefs.

Please do not use the report comment links if you simply don't like another person's comment. BookDaily wants comment posting to be a means of free speech, but we also want users to be cordial. Comment posting should not be a means for mad rants with name-calling and other blatantly rude remarks.

I want to claim my book, but I do not have an ISBN

The International Standard Book Number (ISBN) uniquely identifies one title or edition of a title from one specific publisher. This allows BookDaily (and other sites) a more efficient way of classifying books. Without this number, we have no way of sharing your book with our readers. Once you get your ISBN, come back to BookDaily so you can use us as a vital tool in your promotional arsenal.

How do I claim or create a book?

How many books can I claim or create?

To protect the integrity of BookDaily and our authors, we only allow five titles to be claimed/created before your identity must be verified. Please contact the BookDaily Team to have your claim or create limit increased: www.bookdaily.com/authordispute

Can I claim more than one author?

To protect the integrity of BookDaily Authors, you may only claim to be one author.

What should I do if my book has been claimed by another BookDaily Author?

Please send an Author Dispute to the BookDaily Team here: www.bookdaily.com/authordispute

I can't find the book that I created on BookDaily

Your work is not showing up on the site because you have not uploaded an excerpt and/or cover image. To add an excerpt and cover image, please click on the following link "My Claimed Books/My Biography". Once there, select the "Add new Excerpt" icon to add an excerpt. Or click on the "Add Book cover image" camera icon to add a cover image to the right of the book in question. Once your book has these two items uploaded, your work will be available in about 15 minutes for our readers to sample.

How do I make changes to the excerpt or cover image that I uploaded?

Simply click on the following link to "My Claimed Books/ My Biography". Select the "Edit excerpt" icon or "Edit Cover image" icon. Grayed icons indicate excerpts or cover images that can not be edited. Your work will be updated in about 15 minutes for readers to sample on the site.

HCan I create titles in a foreign language?

We are not currently accepting foreign language book samples.

Why is my book excerpt one long paragraph?

It looks like your excerpt needs to be formatted to make it easier to read. To create breaks, click on the pen and paper icon under actions in the My Claimed Books section of the Author Admin then place the <br/> tag where necessary in the excerpt. www.bookdaily.com/authoradmin/claimedbooks

Why is there no image for my book cover?

We do not have image for your book in our database. Click the camera icon under actions in the My Claimed Books section of the Author Admin to add a cover image to your book. www.bookdaily.com/authoradmin/claimedbooks
