Our country has become increasingly divided and our priorities skewed. We seem to have forgotten about God, country and family. We are no longer government by the people but a government run by special interest groups and money. We spend more on defense than the top seven world defense budgets combined, yet 1 in 7 Americans live in poverty. As citizens need to take back control of our country. This book was written to hopefully educate and provide some insight on ways of getting our country back on track.
United States Decline - No Longer a World Leader
The United States used to be a country looked upon as the best place in
the world to live. It was at one time considered a country of
opportunity, freedom, and power. However, over the past few decades
that perception has diminished and for many Americans, the American
dream has become less and less a possibility.
According to US Census Bureau and UNICEF reports:
· 1 in 7 Americans, 46.5 million people, to include 20% of
American children now live in poverty. In fact, since 2004, poverty
rates in the U.S. have consistently exceeded those of other wealthy
nations. The nation’s official poverty rate in 2014 was 14.8 percent,
which means there were 46.7 million people in poverty.[i]
· There is a higher poverty rate in the US than many other
countries.[ii] The graph below is from Economic Policy Institute report
dated 24 July 2012. It shows the United States listed at the very
bottom, with a higher poverty rate than most other democratic countries.
