Book Description

Some people live a life time without a mythical encounter. Some people have had more than one! Can a person see or witness the Jersey Devil and a Bigfoot creature both within a six year period? It appears that you can; just being at the wrong place and the wrong time can get you in all kinds of trouble.

Sample Chapter

Living in the Pine Barrens region, kids were already scared as this area was also known as the home of the “Jersey Devil”. I was well aware of many past stories about the Devil sightings in and around the County. It had even been reported to have killed people over the past three hundred years. At least that is what the older kids would always tease us about.

One legend was that in the early 1700’s the Leeds family settled in the Pine Barren area of southern New Jersey. They already had twelve children and when Mother Leeds became pregnant with her thirteenth child she was so distraught that she proclaimed “Let this one be a devil!”

After nine months Mother Leeds went into labor on a tumultuously stormy night. The delivery was handled by a midwife. By all accounts the delivery went normal and they had a beautiful baby boy.

This joy was short lived, within a few minutes this beautiful baby changed and metamorphosed right before their eyes. It started to wail and began to grow at an incredible rate.

Talon-like claws grew through its finger tips, bat like wings unfurled from his back, horns sprouted from the top of his head. His eyes started glowing bright red and long hair started to grow all over his body.

All at once, the creature turned and attacked his own Mother, killing her with one blow. He then started biting and clawing the midwife tearing her limb by limb.

The creature attacked the father and killed several of the children before it was finished with the brutal attack. The witnesses that survived the attack watched in horror as the creature sprinted over to the chimney, flew up the flue and disappeared into the darkness of the night sky.

In the 18th and 19th centuries the Jersey Devil sightings were reportedly seen sporadically by many different people in the Pine Barrens region.

In 1909 it is reported that the Camden New Jersey police actually fired upon this creature after being spotted by several eyewitnesses. They failed to bring it down. The creature escaped into the woods.
