Sample Chapter

It was February 14th, Valentine’s Day.

Principal Sam was just waking up.  He always woke up early in the morning, well before school began.  “Today is a special day,” Principal Sam said rubbing his eyes, “I have to remember to wear something so the students remember this special day.”

Principal Sam, though, was forgetful.  He couldn’t remember what the special day was.

As he ate his cereal and drank his orange juice, Principal Sam thought about the day.

“I think today is Thanksgiving,” he said.

After he got dressed, Principal Sam stood in front of his mirror.  “Everyone will be happy today,” he said to himself.  “I love Thanksgiving!”

Principal Sam always arrived at school before anyone else.  When he went outside to greet the students and teachers, he was surprised.

“Why is everyone wearing red clothes and hearts?” he asked.

Ryan was a fifth grade student.  He handed Principal Sam a Valentine.  “Today is Valentine’s Day,” Ryan said, “It’s the day we celebrate love and friendship.”

“Oh,” said the principal, “I guess I thought it was a different day.”

No one in the school minded that Principal Sam was dressed for Thanksgiving.  Even though he was a little forgetful, he was still a great principal.  Everyone liked the fact that he knew every child’s name.

His school was a happy school.
