Book Description

Snowman Paul dreams of becoming a Winter Olympics champion. When he persuades a skeptical Dan to join him on his Olympic quest, Dan is surprised by how well his snowman is doing in competition. But then Dan becomes suspicious. Snowman Paul knows everything about snow and ice, but is he competing fairly? Or is he perhaps, enjoying some unfair advantages? If so, what should they do about it?

Written in rhyme, the Snowman Paul book series celebrates the magic of winter through the evolving friendship between a young boy and his mischievous snowman.

Sample Chapter

I knew that Paul was very clever,

Perhaps the smartest snowman ever.

So I was shocked when I was told

He planned to win Olympic gold.

“Paul,” I said, “You’re much too old

To win a silver or a gold.

Besides, it’s risky, you might fall.

So let’s forget about it, Paul!”

Yossi Lapid

Yossi Lapid started writing poetry and children's stories at a very young age in a small town in Romania where winters were long and toy stores were nonexistent. He spent most of his time in nature making up stories and imagining untold adventures. Following a long career as a university professor, he returned to his early passion with the award winning Snowman Paul series. Lapid won the silver medal for the best picture book series in the 2016 Moonbeam Children’s Books Awards contest. Lapid has three adult children and lives with his wife in New Mexico where snowy days are few but utterly enchanting.
