James Hartford is a young journalist who works for the Seattle Herald. He receives a call from a stranger who threatens to harm his fiance. Left wondering why an organization called New World Order wants anything to do with him, James embarks on a dangerous journey. In this action-packed thriller, a CIA agent is drawn into a quest for answers where he must trust his instincts to survive.
“James Hartford speaking… Sorry, I can’t hear you. Who is this? Sandy? If that’s you, I’m coming home, honey, but this is crazy here!”
In the middle of Pioneer Square, James suddenly froze.
“Can you repeat that? Are you kidding?”
James hung up immediately. He could not understand why someone would call him at eleven in the evening to say something so stupid. Who would be so disturbed? In a way, he was almost flattered. His phone number was always under his signature in the articles that were printed or published online. He had received some tips from time to time, and some of his informants were sometimes amusing. They considered themselves as some sort of deep-throat confidantes, convinced they were giving him such a scoop that he would land on the Pulitzer list the following year with no doubt. But most of the time, the leads were really not that impressive. They were mostly lobbyists or campaign aides trying to push their messages of the day so it would be published and make a splash while the opposing team would not have anything ready for a few hours. Given both camps during election times were doing the same thing all day long, it was actually like a tennis game, going left and right constantly for months.
But what he just heard made no sense whatsoever. He quickly looked on his phone to see if there was any newswire picking up a story even remotely related to what this unknown caller had told him. But beyond sports news, in the United States, and even on the international threads, nothing particular was showing up. Europe was sleeping at the time, and while the Middle East was awakening and Asia was already in full swing on Monday morning local time, absolutely nothing was out of the ordinary.
