As Destine flopped unenthusiastically on the couch, LaRue approached her and began to slowly take off her sandals. “Hey baby, how was your day today?”

“My day seemed to drag on for an eternity. How about yours?”

“Productive, but I want to hear more about yours. Want to share any details?”

“Not really. It wasn’t bad, just long. I’m glad to be home that’s for sure. Ain’t nothing like coming home and seeing your handsome face,” Destiny said as she mustered up enough strength to lean forward and kiss LaRue on his soft lips.

“Stand up,” he instructed her. “I want you to take off your pants.”

“LaRue sweetie, I don’t have the energy right now to make love to you the way you deserve. However, I’ll let you have some, but you’ll have to do all of the work. You can do it any way you like.” She smiled encouragingly, stood up and followed LaRue’s previous instructions. He grabbed her pants and threw them to the corner of the room. After taking off the rest of her clothes, he looked at her with those deep brown eyes, as if he could see right through her. He gently grabbed her hands and said, “You are so beautiful, so beautiful. Come with me, I have something for you.”

“What are you up to?” She asked playfully, frolicking behind him. Reminding herself that he had to do all of the work, even though she had recently acquired a bit of energy.

“A little something to help you relax, my African Queen.”

They walked down the hallway, and as they approached the entrance to the bathroom Destiny noticed the shadows of the lit candles reflecting against the wall. She heard the soothing sound of Jazz playing in the background; yellow rose petals completely covered the floor. There was a miniature bowl filled with a variety of fruit placed on the side, the tub was completely filled with water and bubbles. There was no denying the romance.

“Oh – baby, this is so thoughtful of you, and perfect timing too, I may add.” Destiny, full of surprise, proudly smiled from ear to ear.

“Step in. Let me bathe you.”

She stepped into the warm water, her body immediately becoming covered in goosebumps. It was as if she had just stepped into another world, one she would dread leaving.

LaRue began sponging her down. Judging by the look on her face, he knew this was the perfect idea. He cleansed her body as thoroughly as he could. She felt sparkling clean and beyond tranquil.

“Open your mouth,” he commanded, as he placed a juicy red strawberry on her tongue. She chewed as if it were the best strawberry that she had ever tasted. They ate the remaining fruit together; he fed her and she fed him.

“You’re too much. Thanks for the bath, whew – I feel so much better.” She commented as she dried off.

“My pleasure.” He replied as he cleaned up the bathroom and turned off the radio.

Once Destiny was oiled, powdered, and perfumed, she walked out the bathroom and covered her slender naked body with long, sheer, black lingerie.

“What do you feel like eating for dinner?” She called from the bedroom. “For some reason I have a taste for some pizza and hot wings. I really haven’t eaten much today. As a matter of fact, the only thing that I had was two slices of toast for breakfast, and an apple for lunch. Oddly enough, I didn’t have an appetite, considering how slow it was today.”

“That sounds pretty good to me. I didn’t eat much today either.” He said as he walked into the bedroom. “I’m gonna jump in the shower. Go ahead and order the food, I can hardly wait.”

Destiny thumped LaRue on his butt and gave a flirty wink as she walked passed on her way to the kitchen, “Your wish is my command.” She ordered the food, took a banana from the counter, and got comfortable on the couch. She flipped through the channels until she came upon the leading talk show. The subject for today was Being True to Yourself and Following Your Heart. The guests spoke about how unhappy they were in their relationships and marriages. Some said that they had gone through counseling in an effort to salvage what was left of their relationships. Most of the women seemed to be extremely sad. They wanted to be free from the obligation of taking care of everyone else, instead they wanted to take care of themselves. They felt as though they had neglected themselves. One lady confessed to postponing her life’s desires for the sake of her marriage. She said that being a mother and a wife was more important to her than anything else, but she wanted very much to incorporate herself into the picture. She went on to say that she had delayed a dream she had had prior to becoming a wife and mother, a dream to own her own clothing store. Was it too late for her to establish her business? How would her children and husband feel if she did? Would her husband feel threatened, or would he be supportive? Where would she start? How would she finance the business? Those were all questions that she’d asked the audience as well as the host.

Another guest spoke about how his wife no longer seemed to have a mind of her own. He went on to say that she once possessed an outspoken personality but over the years had allowed it to fade away. He confessed that she never seemed to have an opinion, and that whenever he asked his wife if she wanted x, y, or z she would always reply with, “Yes, if you want to” or “Whatever you like” or “It doesn’t matter to me.” He felt as though she had evolved into someone else. Destiny began to assess her own dreams and desires. She also thought about how things were between her and LaRue lately. In the past, nearly two years ago, he had threatened her, and even hit her a couple of times. During that time he had promised her that he would never do it again. She believed him, and forgave him. Although they had been together for four years, and things were going great between them, there was always room for improvement.

“Have you already called baby?” LaRue asked as he walked into the living room wearing nothing but a pair of boxers that displayed his manhood through the opening.

“Yeah. They should be here soon.” She remarked as her train of thought immediately changed. She gazed lustfully at his front as if she’d never seen it. She was practically drooling. He noticed her gazing. “You want some of this?” He joked as he dropped his boxers to his feet and began dancing for her. As the imaginary music played he slowly rubbed his manhood up and down, while licking his luscious lips. His chocolate body was designed to perfection. He has one of those body building types, with muscles bulging all over the place.

“Damn, you are one fine soul! Come on over here to mama, I got something for you. Something deep and fulfilling.”

He quickly relinquished the boxers from around his ankles and made his way over. He began licking and sucking all over her body. Lifting her lingerie higher and higher as he went along.

There was a knock at the door. “Put your boxers on.” Destiny nervously demanded as if she was just caught robbing a bank.

They ate the entire pizza and hot wings. Once they sniffed down every bite, they cleaned the place up and decided to call it a night.

“LaRue.” Destiny whispered as they lay in bed together. “Earlier today when I asked you how your day was, you told me that it was productive. Does that mean you found a job?”

There was a moment of silence. “Not quite.”

“What exactly does that mean?”

“It means that I’m waiting to hear back from a couple of people.”

“Have you interviewed with anyone yet?”

“What exactly are you waiting to hear from these people?”

Tension began to pervade his voice. “You know, I’ve been out all week looking for a job. It’s been hard. The economy isn’t doing well at all these days, finding a job is almost like waiting for a million dollars to fall from the sky and into my lap.”

“I know—.”

“You know what?” He interjected rudely.

She exhaled. “I know it is, how frustrating it can be looking for a job.”

“Oh really. And how is that? You’ve never had a problem finding one.”

In a motherly tone she stated, “Look, I don’t want to argue. I was just asking about your progress. I wasn’t trying to insult you in any way.” He turned his back to her and she placed her hand on him, gently caressing. “LaRue. Baby—I’m sorry if I offended you. Please, turn around. Look at me.” She pleaded.

He slowly turned around trying hard to maintain his anger. “Ever since I was laid off, I’ve been out there everyday pounding the pavement. Everyday. I’m serious about finding employment.”

“Are you taking the resumes and cover letters along with you as well?”

“Yeah. As usual, they glance over it pretending to be impressed and immediately inform me that if something becomes available they will give me a call. Corporate America ain’t nothing but a joke. One minute they’re telling you that you must have experience to get the job, but how in the hell am I supposed to get experience when they won’t give me the opportunity to even possess the damn job. I don’t want them to give me a job, just a fair chance.”

“Just keep on pushing. You’ll definitely get another job. I’m convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt.”

“Thanks.” His tone had become melancholy.

“Don’t sound so sad. We’ll get through this together. Haven’t we always?” An innocent kissed was placed on his cheek.
