“Thanks for protecting me tonight.” Sharon tried a smile.

Matthew walked toward her slowly, as though testing his welcome. She stepped closer.

He paused, close enough to touch. “At your service.”

Sharon breathed in his scent. Warmth and musk. Masculine. Her gaze drifted to his lips. Firm and full. He was Temptation. Sharon lifted her eyes to his and found the heat waiting for her. Her nipples hardened in response.

Slowly, Matthew lowered his head. Sharon’s gaze wavered between his darkening eyes and his sensuous mouth. Instinctively, she recognized Matthew’s warning—if this isn’t what you want, step back now. She rose onto her toes to meet him halfway.

Matthew’s lips brushed gently across hers. Sharon shivered at his tenderness. He pressed his mouth against hers and she opened for him. Matthew nipped at her lips as though sipping her. Stroked his tongue into her mouth as though tasting her. She felt like she was dessert.

Sharon pressed herself tighter against him. He wrapped his arms around her and straightened, lifting her with him. Her feet left the ground and she clung to his broad shoulders. Their sweat mingled and his musky scent fogged her brain. She trembled as his hard, wet muscles strained against her. He opened his mouth wider and took the kiss deeper.

Her mind was spinning with the smell and feel of him. An ache was building inside her, and Sharon dug her fingertips into Matthew’s shoulders to relieve the pressure.

Too soon, her inner voice shouted. Even as her body arched into his, her mind warned her, he doesn't know me yet.

Sharon pulled her lips from Matthew’s and knew the pain of separation. He looked as dazed as she felt. “Matt.” Her voice quavered. “Put me down.”

She slid against him as Matthew returned her to her feet. Her body shuddered with desire as it came into contact with a particular muscle. Matthew braced his hands on her waist as though sensing she was still a little shaky. Or perhaps he wasn’t steady on his feet, either.
