Award winning author Kathryn Lane writes fiction inspired by Latin American cultures she experienced during her career as an international finance executive and in her life growing up in Mexico. Her debut novel, Waking Up in Medellín, released in 2016 by Pen-L Publishing was recognized by the Killer Nashville International Writers Conference with the Silver Falchion for Best Fiction Book of the Year (2017). The novel received an additional Silver Falchion for Best Fiction Adult Suspense. Waking Up in Medellin was also awarded a Pinnacle Achievement Award in Fiction. The book is in the finals for Ind’tale Magazine’s RONE award. Waking Up in Medellín was released in Spanish with the title Despertando en Medellín (2017).
